The Three Keys to Success – Part Two

internet marketing successHi Dear Reader,

In part one I talked about the importance of being educated if you want to be a success online. The second part of the formula is having personalized help from other, more experienced marketers. Just like in school, you have your own studies that you do on your own, but you still have a teacher or professor that helps explain things or fill in the gaps.

To be able to fully understand the intricacies of internet marketing, it helps immensely to have somebody that’s already “been there – done that” to help get you going quickly. There are three ways to get this personalized help ranging from free to expensive and they are…

1. Hang out on forums such as the Digital Point or even the Warriors Forum. You can find a lot of people on these forums that know the business and can help you in many ways. One of the drawbacks of forums is that while there are people on there that can give you good advice, many of the people on there have never made a dime online, but they still give advice like they know.

You have to be very selective of who you listen to when you visit these places. There are a lot of people who spend all day on the forums and never make a dime actually running a business. The other drawback is that at some point, you have to begin to contribute in some way with your own advice or you may get flames from older members.

The second way to get personalized help is to form a mastermind group which is a small number of people that can offer help and feedback, share personal experience and knowledge, and just help each other out as they need it. I used to join Willie Crawford’s Saturday morning Brainstorming and Networking calls every week. There were several of us regulars that called in every week to review websites, or just answer general marketing questions. Having somebody like Willie to offer advice and answer questions was invaluable in my own business, and I’m sure many others as well. I remember one call where Willie made a simple statement that changed my life in just a few seconds. I had been struggling for a couple of years to get something going, but had only made a few affiliate sales – nothing of my own.He said, “Use Camtasia to make a set of videos regarding some aspect of internet marketing and sell them as a WSO.” After he made his statement, I produced a set of videos that I sold on the Warrior’s forum as a WSO or “Warrior’s Special Offer”, and actually saw success at selling my own product for a change.

Back then, it didn’t cost anything to post a WSO, so I was able to make the videos, throw together a quick sales page, hook up a Paypal button, and was making money within about 7 hours. That was the spark I needed to begin making money online, and to go on to build a successful membership site from there. So, a mastermind group – even if the members are not that experienced, can still be a huge benefit because you never know when somebody’s going to make a statement that flips the switch and makes everything clear to you.

The third option, and one that can be VERY expensive is personal one – on – one coaching. If you can find somebody that still offers personal coaching, it can cost you anywhere from $250 a month to as much as $50,000 or maybe even $100,000 a year! Willie Crawford charges $25,000 a year for coaching if you can get him to do it. The problem with getting a coach of that stature is they can make more money doing what they do than they can by spending time coaching somebody else.

So there are your three options for personalized help. If you don’t do anything else, at least join a couple of forums and join the conversation. I’ll be back with Part 3 soon. Be on the lookout.

To your success,

Michael Worthington
